Caption:
Whilst walking looking for Kingfishers in the trees we discovered this little chap on the beach. The tide had gone out but the area was quite wet and "muddy". Initially I approached carefully fully expecting him to fly away. I then realised he was actually stuck feet first in the wet sand. I gently lifted him dried off the mud on his tail feathers, wing tips and feet and checked for injuries. However he was quite happy sitting on Jim's finger having a good look around. We placed him on a branch but he just stepped back onto Jim's finger. After a good 10 minutes he decided he'd had enough of modelling and flew onto a low branch.

Wow!! What a brilliant photo! Lucky you having such an opportunity to take it - but even more so - what a lucky Kingfisher that you and your husband came along to rescue it from it's plight at that particular moment in time. Well done both of you - and what a wonderful 'reward' you both had with the bird quite happily posing for piccies afterwards. What a lovely story to read - complete with a very happy ending for all concerned!

PS. It's going straight into my list of 'Faves'!!

Wonderful story Chris and a delightful image. Many would give their right arm to capture a shot of a Kingfisher and you've managed to capture both. Green or what? LOL! Maybe I will see one one day and capture it on my camera. Nice one Chris. Thanks for sharing

Hi
What a rewarding shot , You have captured him with colour, sharpness and more than likely saved him from possible danger; he will ALWAYS remember you for that. Beautiful picture.

This is an absolute gem, Chris - from an experience that everyone must wish to share - having the trust of a wild creature like that. A natural for the scroller! Thank you too for looking in at my sea otter.
Best regards, Steve
